Six Ways To Turn Desires Into Gold – From Think and Grow Rich

July 31st, 2011 1 comment

If you have read it, it is worth reading again and making notes. If you have not read it,  you will be well served by reading it.  The book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill  is readily available on line. It is priceless.

I am writing formula “Six Ways To Turn Desires Into Gold” as a reminder for myself. I hope you benefit from this formula.

“Every human being who reaches the age of understanding of the purpose of money wishes for it. Wishing will not bring riches.  But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure will bring riches.

The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definitive, practical steps:

First: fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definitive as to the amount.

Second: determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. There is no such thing as something for nothing.

Third: establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

Fourth: create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Fifth: write out a clear concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for it’s acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan though which you intend to accumulate it.

Sixth: read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read – see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.

Recession , US Default, Foreclosures….What Is The Solution

July 28th, 2011 No comments

The Real Question Is What Is the Solution For You?

Stop reading the newspapers, watching TV and engaging in conversations with co-workers and others about negative news headlines. George Ross, Donald Trump’s key attorney and deal closure reminds us that most news is not credible or at least not the complete picture.  As importantly, the most immediate item that affects  us individually is what we do  for ourselves.

Wayne Allyn Root coaches his clients on implementing a success plan that is not dependent on an employer. More specifically start your own business. Wayne uses the opportunities for learning marketing and developing a network that is taught by direct sales companies or network marketing companies.  This is one  great opportunity to be your own boss, work with other successful people and not have to worry about what an employer will do.

One of the areas of my own business interests is being with an organization that coaches business owners and other interested in successful real estate investing how to move forward and achieve continually increasing performance goals.

The theme here is individual responsibility for what happens in your life. Most of us have the resources to move forward and do a lot better than we are doing today. I like the example I heard once where the question was asked “if you had the opportunity to buy a new $100,000 car for $5000 would you be able to figure out how to come up with the $5000? Most everyone said yes. Then why would you ever resist the opportunity to start your own business because you didn’t have a couple thousand dollars you need for basic infrastructure and expenses during the start up period?

Are you unemployed? Are you struggling to make ends meet? Are you unhappy with the work you do? Don’t look outside of yourself for someone to solve these or any other issue.  Do you feel you don’t have enough knowledge or education? I just finished a couple days of coaching a person who has three businesses, lives in a million dollar home with a quarter million dollar boat outside. He is a high school graduate. He figured it out. You probably know of others like him or read about them.

If you want some ideas, email me.  I also highly recommend attending Mega Partnering 4 where  you will meet incredible people . Figure out a way to buy a VIP ticket where you will have dinner with the featured speakers and business leaders attending.  Are you nervous about meeting successful people and not sure what to say  or do?  Register for my email list on this page and look for an article real soon on what I have found to be the most effective networking skills and how easy it is for anyone to follow those steps. I was taught these skills and will share them with my readers.

Bottom line: you are responsible and the only way to solve any situation you don’t prefer in your life is to develop an action plan and then take action.

An Entitlement? What The Hell Is Wrong Here??

July 23rd, 2011 No comments

(Author Unknown)

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only 30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500. If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working (me) you’d have $892,919.98. If you took out only 3% per year, you receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years, and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month. The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever had.

Entitlement my ass, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn’t make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Congressional benefits, aka. free health care, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that’s welfare, and they have the nerve to call my retirement entitlements !!!!!!…..scroll down…………..
Emergency Rooms for their general health care -At just one hospital the cost to tax payers totaled over 25 million a year!!!

Someone please tell me what the HELL’s wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!

We’re “broke” & can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,???????????

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey. And now Pakistan home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a ‘fixed income’ receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$’s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when its time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without ‘needed’ meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

YET………………….
They have a ‘Benefit’ for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave ‘US’ the same support they give to other countries.

SAD?

YEAH, OK, SO WHEN DO WE GET SICK AND TIRED AND
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?????

99% of people won’t take the time or have the interest to forward this.
I’m one of the 1% — I Just Did

Ways To Ignite Economic Growth As Seen At The New York Post

July 6th, 2011 No comments

I am delighted to see an increase in articles devoted to acknowledging the severe situation the US is in and the extreme inadequacy of  Obama’s leadership from the day he took office and the extension of this poor performance to the members of congress and most leaders at the state and local level.

John Crudele Advocates Some Interesting Solutions Published By The New York Post

In summary

$1.00 reduction in gasoline prices adds $140 billion to what is available to spend on other things

There is $15 trillion locked in private retirement accounts that could become easy to use for buying homes and contribute to solving the housing crisis.

There is $1 trillion of corporate earnings locked overseas since the tax rate of returning that money is 35%

Click Here to Read John’s Report and come back here to voice your views.

How To Achieve Success Beyond Measure

1. Define success in measurable terms
2. Develop step by step action plans designed to achieve the intended results.
3. Make adjustments as you get feedback on how you are doing vs. you plan.  This is the Plan vs Actual = Variance formula I share at all my live event presentations.  I have named this The Gold Formula.
4. Be relentless every day on implementing the action plan you you developed to achieve your success goals
5. End you day on a positive note with completing an important task or successfully marketing to one more client or an existing one.
6. Never ever lose site of the goal of being part of a better outcome as a result of you coming to the table.

Independence Day… America: What Are We Celebrating?

July 3rd, 2011 1 comment

What We Say We Celebrate on The Fourth of July

I stand for getting government out of the way of our lives

It is called Independence Day and we celebrate the day the Declaration of Independence was signed.  The leaders of the day formed the foundation of the United States on “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.  Our constitution detailed the intent of the scope and responsibility of government and the separation of church and state.  This foundation is cause for massive celebration.

In 2011 what are we celebrating and who are we applauding?  Our country is being chocked by the size of the government and debt at the Federal and in many cases the state and local level. Can this country cease to exist? Of course it can. History is peppered with evidence of great nations that expired.  We have a choice as to how we move forward and it is time to rise up and say the formulas we are using including the leadership in place is clearly not working.  Of course we can maintain the same delusional view that all will be fine and someone will figure it out.  They haven’t so far except for people like  Wayne Allyn Root, Ron Paul and others with similar understanding and experience.  The problem is people who do understand, who are leaders, who can reestablish the solid foundation of this country cannot get elected right now. Why is that? Look in the mirror.

How many more years do we have to celebrate Independence Day?  Actually I believe what was once Independence is now only recalled in the archives of history.  The government is nearly in our face at every turn and wants more.  Obama wants to be in control of our lives and those in Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike for the most part want to let him.

Let’s not forget what this country stands for and why people came to America in the first place

What Is The Reality of the Fourth of July Celebration?

Most people in the US view the 4th of July 2011 as an opportunity to take a long weekend as the 4th falls on a Monday.  For the next four years the holiday will be extended in the minds of most. “There is no sense starting anything significant now as the holiday is right around the corner”.   The notable exceptions are owners of  for profit businesses that grant their staff the holiday and then lose sleep with the related loss of revenue. Yes even one day can make a serious difference in cash flow. Many of these same owners are looking at the performance to date and working on strategic adjustments in order to have some measure of success in 2011. The 4th of July in many cases is not any different in terms of work done than any other day. Contrast that with the majority of government employees who are off and likely not thinking about how to do a better job in the second half of the year. Most governments employees are not thinking about saving money or whether their job is even needed.  Most are thinking ” I am so happy I have this regular paycheck and benefits.”  And we accept this culture in government even though we are footing the bill for it’s cost.

Overtaxing and Not Extending Credit to Small Business Stops The Growth Engine

Business profits are increasingly hard to earn because generally the banks are not lending for expansion or for any business reason and the cost of doing business continues to increase because of  increased taxes, regulatory requirements and healthcare. This is a topic for an entire book.  For now,  understand privately held small businesses are the lifeblood of this economy and our government is restricting their progress.

Most government employees have the day off. Most small business owners shutter at the loss of revenue with any holiday. The cost of government at the federal, state and local level increases the already outrageous level of debt purposely built by elected officials.  The federal deficit was a campaign issue elevated by every candidate running against George Busch including Obama. Obama capitalized on his power of persuasion to be elected president even though he had no demonstrated experience to step into that leadership position.  He proceeded to appoint other text smart people as his support team and now look at the accelerating mess: higher unemployment, accelerating national , state and local  debt, and a rapidly expanding set of rules and regulations that add even more burden to companies that are the lifeblood of our economy. Privately held business that are the source of the majority of job creation in our country are penalized with ever increasing taxes, costs of reporting compliance, a virtual shutdown on the ability to obtain expansion capital in the form of bank loans and more.

The Key Barriers To Job Creation and Economic Growth

Big government, entitlements  and extreme regulations …there is nothing productive about that formula and it flies in the face of the intent of the US Constitution.

A government that thinks it can solve economic issues is dangerous as evidence by the results of the recent past.  The fact is that most in government have no experience running a profitable business and have a lifetime of being on public payrolls and benefit programs. Did you know that there was no time to read the $800 billion stimulus package that was pushed through by Obama and passed by the Congress.  There are many more examples of the absurdity of how we allow our governments to operate.

What Is Action Plan To Fix This Mess?

First step is don’t believe everything you hear or read including this article. Do your own research. I suggest registering with the CATO Institute. I highly recommend Wayne Allyn Root’s book   “The Conscience of a Libertarian: Empowering the Citizen Revolution with God, Guns, Gold and Tax Cuts” You may not agree with all the ideas for solving today’s massive issues. However, it will be hard to ignore the facts of the national debt,  true unemployment, loss of economic base resulting from the decline in real estate values and the impact of an ever increasingly intrusive government.

Solutions start with clear awareness of the current situation and a clear definition of the intended goal.  Most Americans are comatose on the significance of the issue we have in this country and world. Most spend more time analyzing a sports game or murder trial than on our country’s strength or lack thereof.  The first step is to wake up and become aware.  The second step is to start paying close attention to those leaders who have the value system espoused by our founding fathers and the experience on making the tough decisions that are need to get government out of the way of economic vibrancy. The related action is to get those people elected and through the rest of the bums out…and there are Democrats and Republicans alike who should be thrown out.  When taking out the trash, don’t forget the piles at the state and local level.

Be on the sidelines and watching the play or being in the game.

Obama,Governors Note: The State of Virginia Reports Budget Surplus..

August 24th, 2010 No comments

Today’s Wall Street Journal reports Virgina State Governor Robert McDonnell has led their economy to a budget surplus of $400 million for 2010. Just two years ago the state faced more than a $4 billion deficit.

How was this accomplished?  As reported, Governor McDonnell blocked a $2 billion proposed tax increase by former Democratic Governor Tim Kaine. Then he cut spending government spending to 2007 levels.

Companies who want to stay in business understand spending cannot exceed revenues. It is rare today to see a government leader demonstrate fiscal responsibility. This report is very refreshing news. Congratulations Governor McDonnell on your persistent economic leadership.

Happy Nancy Pelosi Is Not Worried … A Seen On ABC

August 3rd, 2010 No comments

Nancy Pelosi  is not worried about the majority of the  House Representatives.  She is very confident of her agenda. Personally, I am happy she is confident because this means she is not paying attention growing number of Americans that are tired of increasing loss of freedom, liberty and prosperity.

Failing to pay attention is likely to result in her and others in federal and state governments waking up to find themselves out. Waking up to find new leadership that advocates the return to the founding principles of this country. Personally I feel that would be a great new day for our country.

I'm 63 and I’m Tired" by Robert A. Hall

June 25th, 2010 2 comments

I’m 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela . I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance. I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military…. Those are the citizens we need.

I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet.

I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor. Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor”. The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I’m darn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to have to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.

Robert A. Hall is a Marine Vietnam veteran who served five terms in the Massachusetts State Senate. There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.

BP Oil Spill Results In Predicable Political and Media Response…and Predictable Consequences

June 20th, 2010 No comments

The media and government is taking the predictable “finger pointing” route in connection with the BP oil spill.  Screaming someone is surely to blame attracts attention to the publications and politicians screaming the loudest. Fingers point to BP and Obama.

BP accepts responsibility and has allocated $20 billion for the cleanup.  Citizens and politicians say Obama isn’t acting fast enough. Obama apologizes to no one, blames the MMS (Minerals Management Service) and appoints  Michael Bromwich as its new head.

What if this ecological disaster is actually no one’s fault. There is that strong  possibility. Recognize  that in spite of everyone’s best efforts, sometimes things fail.   Consider this excerpt from an article by Carl Hoffman explaining what most likely happened:

“No oil company wants to have a blowout and these companies spend vast sums of money and expertise to ensure that they never happen. But happen they do. If this was a blowout, it’s the first deep-water one in the Gulf of Mexico that I can think of. And for that to happen requires the perfect storm of scenarios.”

I totally support an independent investigation to confirm what really happened. There are two possible outcomes of such an investigation. First, all practical steps were taken to prevent this event and it still happened. Second, preventive measures were known and not implemented.

In the first case, we learn and get better. In the second case, there would be a violation of fiduciary responsibility and appropriate measures taken.

Related to investigations,  I am wondering what information on preventive measures was provided at the Board of Director’s level at BP.  This is a public company and Boards have very clear responsibility for asking the tough questions and getting answers.  At the government level, appointing a new head of the MMS now is interesting. Obama failed  to act following   two scathing reports on the MMS  by the Inspector General in recent years  (See full article by the  The Washington Post ) What if the MMS was operating as intended?  Would the BP Oil Spill have been prevented?

I am a major advocate of a system of accountability in business and government. The media is accountable for accurate reporting. Citizens are accountable for holding  government responsible for upholding the values of our constitution.  All of us are owed accurate information as to what happened and what steps are being taken now to minimize the risk.  The problem with the finger pointing culture is that the truth can be obscured or even ignored. That would be the ultimate disaster.
